This original erotic watercolor of a nude young woman from behind is cropped to create an interesting composition by cropping the figure and working with the edges of the picture plane to create an asymmetrical and interesting composition.
This work is painted by first sketching out the figure with a lithographic crayon and then applying successive layers of watercolor over the crayon to create shading and color.
The paper that this is painted on is called Rives BFK, which is a type of heavy cotton printmaking paper that won't degrade over time and should hold the color really well for at least fifty to one hundred years without fading, especially if this is framed behind glass.
The size is a standard US frame size and can be framed inexpensively. Try buying a frame on the net.

This painting came in the mail today and it is even better in person than the image on Etsy! The well-chosen colors, interesting and perfectly constructed composition, and the great use of brush strokes to define the musculature, all indicate that this painting was made by a master artist. Great communication with the artist regarding the shipping process. When the package arrived I was very impressed with the care taken - the padding shows he values the work as much as I do. Surprised with the extras he slipped in the package - a watercolor study for the diptych, a program detailing his works and history, and several notecards (that will probably end up framed as well). I’m so happy to have found Mencher’s work.
